The Chivalry 2 Tenosian update allows players to face off against one another again as the Agatha Knights or Mason Order; alternatively, they can also fight for the third faction, the Tenosian Empire. Inspired by medieval and feudal Islamic armies, the Tenosians are a sophisticated and academic culture who have turned from their books to war to deal with the barbarians. With a whole new faction, new maps, and mechanics, players will need to adapt to the shifting sands of combat to achieve total victory.
6 Horses (The Basics)
Chivalry 2 introduces mounts for the very first time. Like players, each horse will have a life meter which will appear on top of the gamer’s health bar. Depending on the map, faction, and chances, players will spawn as cavalry (sometimes solo or in a cohort). While mounted, players will remain in their chosen class and be armed with a lance to run down enemies or take out enemy-mounted troops. Up to 12 active horses can be present at one time on maps.
Players will most likely need to adjust their movements as riding a horse is a very different experience from what players are normally accustomed to. Although initially frustrating, players can become near unstoppable should they master the art of cavalry. It is possible to eliminate players on horseback and to become the horses’ new master. Each faction will also have a unique horse skin (which will change depending on which faction the rider belongs to).
5 Horses (Mounted Troops)
As mentioned previously, all cavalry will spawn in with a lance. The lance is effective at picking off enemy infantry (especially archers). Each lance will have a durability meter and will deteriorate as it is used against enemies. Once depleted, the lance will shatter and players will be armed with their selected arsenal. When equipped with the lance, players can lower the lance (pressing M1) and strike enemies (press M1 again at the right moment to hit the enemy). It should be noted that when the lance is lowered, stamina is consumed. Therefore, players will have to take some time to adjust their cavalry charges accordingly to score hits.

A key tip to keep in mind is to avoid crashing into walls and obstacles on horseback whilst enemies are near. This will slow down the horse considerably, making riders vulnerable to nearby infantry. Another important thing to consider is to ride over enemy infantry when they are engaged with allies. Riding into enemies will knock them back allowing your allies to deliver the killing blow.
4 Countering Cavalry
Players not on horseback will need to be alert for approaching enemy cavalry. Those who enjoy the archer class may find themselves easy targets if they are not paying attention to their surroundings. To counter enemy cavalry, players should target horseback riders when their mounts are slow or lure them towards areas with many obstacles.
Moreover, some class types such as the Crossbowman and Combat Engineer will have spike barricades or wooden ones, these can be deployed as the enemy charges toward the players. The barricades can be positioned within seconds, and it is unlikely that enemy cavalry can disengage, slowing them and making them vulnerable to multiple attacks. For players targeting enemy mounted troops, the horse icon will appear should damage be done to the horse, distinguishing what type of damage is being done.
3 New Maps Featuring Team-Based Objectives
Focusing on the conflict between the Mason Order and the Tenosians, players will return to the classic deathmatches (featuring horses) as well as 52-player team-based objective conflicts. Whilst mostly similar to Chivalry 2’s original maps, the new ones, The Breach of Baudwyn and the Razing of Askandir, feature certain objectives that will require players to be savvier.

Cavalry waves will spawn at certain moments during the conflict. In the Breach of Baudwyn, this occurs right in the beginning as the Tenosians escort their siege weapons to the wall and towards the end. On the other hand, cavalry waves appear should the Masons destroy Askandir’s lighthouse and move the conflict onto the bridge.
2 Tips For The Mason Order
As the defender in the Breach of Baudwyn, players will need to hold back the Tenosian advance. Some excellent places to do this are during Objectives 2, 4, and 5 of the battle. Objective 2 is to prevent the Tenosians from destroying the siege weapons on the walls. There are six in total, and by concentrating forces on the chokepoints (siege ramps) and eyeing the ladders, the enemy can be repulsed. Objective 4 is straightforward as the town hall can be successfully defended easily using knights and by holding the two staircases. Finally, objective 5 requires the enemy to load and aim canons at the Bulwark. If the enemy can be disrupted long enough, victory is assured.
As the attacker in the Razing of Askandir, the Masons will need to quickly set up their petards (explosives) at the lighthouse’s base. As the fighting will be in an enclosed space, it is paramount that the Masons maintain their momentum as any lull in the fighting will give the Tenosians the advantage. When pushing the enemy columns, players can build barricades around other players who have some protection when knocking down the columns (as this will take time).
1 Tips For The Tenosians
As the attacker in the Breach of Baudwyn, players will need to advance their siege ramps to breach the enemy walls. To take out the Mason siege weapons on the walls, players will need to quickly destroy them as there are six. Two ways to do this are to use ladders that are highly guarded or nearby catapults. The final objective to destroy the Bulwark’s gates with cannon fire will require Tenosians on canons to aim their guns properly to hit the gates. Simply arming the cannon does not guarantee a hit.
As the defender in the Razing of Askandir, Tenosians can quickly cut off the enemy and build a strong defense early on in the game at the lighthouse, should all sides be observed. During the column objective, enemies can be disrupted easily with a hit should they be attempting to push them over.
Lastly, in the final objective regarding the razing of the library, players defending this area should carefully watch for any Mason with a flaming torch. Masons will not drop their torch upon hit and must be cut down quickly before they can fling their torches on book columns. Careful zoning and wariness should be applied here to protect the library. Water jugs can be used to prevent the fire from destroying book columns outright.
Chivalry 2 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC
