Evans recently gushed over de Armas, saying that she is “just so good” at what she does. He recalled a time on Netflix’s The Gray Man set when he felt unsure about the dialogue in a particular scene. The moment de Armas delivered her lines, his doubts were immediately cleared, and he became convinced that the scene could actually work. According to Evans, such is a testament to de Armas’ “incredible watchability factor” and her uncanny ability to make people care about what they are watching.

During the interview with Entertainment Tonight, Evans also said that the plot of the film really plays into de Armas’ strengths as an actor. He didn’t want to give too much of the storyline away, but he did tease that his character and de Armas’ character have a sort of Han Solo and Princess Leia type of dynamic, where they tend to teeter on a delicate line between arguing and flirting. If The Gray Man trailer is any indication, a lot of entertaining physical and verbal exchanges between Evans and de Armas are expected to occur throughout the film. Also, given that the two of them have worked together before, fans can rest assured that a lack of chemistry will not be an issue.

Evans and de Armas first joined forces in 2019’s Knives Out, playing two lead characters who shared an important connection with each other in the story. The Gray Man is their second film together, in which they will appear alongside other notable names including Ryan Gosling, Billy Bob Thorton, and Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page. Lastly, Ghosted, Apple TV Plus’ upcoming action-adventure romance, will be their third film together. de Armas ended up being added to the project after Scarlett Johansson stepped down from the lead role.

As for their off-screen relationship, Evans and de Armas are just friends, despite rumors of a romance brewing between the two. Still, it seems their chemistry could result in some endearing on-screen collaborations in the coming years.

The Gray Man drops on Netflix on July 15, 2022.
